SNORKELING TRIP BENEFITING REACHFM
SATURDAY JULY 30th, 2011
Trip Description
Join ReachFM and Reef Ministries for a fun-filled day exploring God's underwater world while raising money to support ReachFM! Perfect for swimmers and non-swimmers, from kids to grandparents, the Reach Reef Adventure is an ideal Christian outdoor activity for the whole family.
Your Christ-centered excursion starts with an informative presentation by Tec Clark, founder and director of Reef Ministries, where you will learn how God’s handiwork is on remarkable display in His underwater world. On the boat ride out to the reef you will get a tour of the famous “Venice of America” Ft. Lauderdale's Intracoastal Waterway. Then, only 1/4 mile offshore in 15 feet of water, you will explore Twin Ledges - a beautiful snorkeling reef off Fort Lauderdale. Snorkelers will be supplied masks, snorkels, fins and snorkeling vests. We will even brief you on how to snorkel if you have never experienced it before.

FAQs
What will we see on the reef?
You will see many tropical reef fish indigenous to Florida and the Caribbean - parrotfish, snapper, damselfish, angelfish, stingray, wrasse, tang, etc. These include adults and juveniles, individuals and schools. You will also see an assortment of hard and soft corals including sea fans and sponges.
Who can participate in snorkeling?
To participate in snorkeling, we ask that you know how to swim and be comfortable in the water. Children must be able to swim on their own without clinging onto an adult in the water. This is an interpretive adventure, the more one is comfortable with the activity of snorkeling, the better the experience will be to absorb the beauty of God's underwater marine life. Please call if you have questions regarding yours or your child's abilities to snorkel.
What about motion sickness and waves?
The boat will not run snorkeling trips if the seas are moderately rough. The captain makes the judgment early in the morning to determine if the trip is running or not due to weather. There are some people who are prone to getting motion sickness even in the mildest of conditions - on a boat that is called sea sickness. There are some over-the-counter medications for motion/sea sickness, and it is always best to consult with your physician to see if that medication is right for you.
Where should we park our car?
You may park at the Bahia Mar Resort. Your parking ticket will be validated and your parking will only be $5.
We are coming from out of town. Where can we worship on Sunday?
As ReachFM is a ministry of Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale you may wish to join them for worship at either 8:00am, 10:15am or 12:30pm on Sunday. You may even wish to attend the Saturday evening service at 6pm.
