Scuba Instruction One of the greatest ways to experience God's underwater world is by scuba diving! Scuba is an acronym for Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus and with scuba equipment you can experience extended time underwater seeing the reefs and fish close-up in a weightless and wonderful experience. Breathing underwater and floating weightlessly underwater makes scuba diving so much fun. Once you go through your Reef Ministries scuba lessons you will become a PADI Open Water Diver. With that certification you can scuba dive with a dive buddy to the depth of 60 feet. Scuba diving is also a great family activity. A PADI Junior Open Water Diver (ages 10 to 14) can dive with a parent or certified Instructor to a maximum depth of 40 feet.

Snorkeling or Skin Diving Instruction Another great way to experience God's underwater world is through snorkeling or skin diving. Snorkeling is the act of floating at the surface viewing shallow reefs with the use of mask, snorkel and fins. Skin diving takes that a step further by going underwater when snorkeling - breath-hold diving. Both of these activities are much more enjoyable when you know how to clear your mask and snorkel, do proper kick techniques, learn how to equalize ears, safely hold breath, buddy systems, and perform energy-efficient surface dives. Most people never get trained how to snorkel or skin dive, but when you go through a brief snorkeling/skin diving course your skills are greatly improved and your ability to view, interpret and enjoy God's reefs and fish is tremendously increased.
