Scuba Instruction One of the greatest ways to experience God's underwater world is by scuba diving! It is a very worshipful experience to be underwater beholding God's creation. And that is how Reef Ministries teaches scuba - in a safe, fun and worshipful way!
Scuba is an acronym for Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus and with scuba equipment you can experience extended time underwater seeing the reefs and fish close-up in a weightless and wonderful experience. Breathing underwater and floating weightlessly underwater makes scuba diving so much fun. Once you go through training you will become a PADI Open Water Diver. With that certification you can scuba dive with a dive buddy to the depth of 60 feet. Scuba diving is also a great family activity. A PADI Junior Open Water Diver (ages 12 to 14) can dive with a parent or certified Instructor to a maximum depth of 40 feet.
Course Description
- There are three parts to your Open Water Diver course: classroom, pool and open water.
- Classroom: in our classroom session you will learn the academics of scuba diving. Your learning will be a combination of reading, videos and instructor presentations.
- Pool: in our pool sessions you will be learning all your skills and techniques for using scuba underwater.
- Open Water: you will have four open water dives where you will be introduced to boat diving procedures and especially God's underwater reefs and fish. These dives are mostly only 30 feet in depth with a maximum depth of 18 meters / 60 feet.
- Student to Instructor ratios are dependent on the age of participants and the environment.
